The Medal

This Original Vintage Style St. Christopher Medal, is a die-struck, silver-plated brass medal, hand painted royal blue with a durable enamel finish, and is the size of a quarter. It depicts St. Christopher with the Christ Child on his back crossing a stream.

The Saint St.

Christopher died a martyr during the third century. His Legend tells the story of how he carried a child across a raging stream. As he crossed, the child grew increasingly heavy and later revealed himself to be the Christ child who was carrying the weight of the world. His statues and pictures often read: "Whoever shall behold the image of St. Christopher shall not faint or fall on that day".

Folklore Saint

Christopher became known as the patron saint of travelers, ferrymen, and mariners, but he also oversees bachelors, and surfers as well. Back in the 1960s girlfriends gave their boyfriends the medals to guarantee a safe return from a day on the waves.

The medal's popularity increased after it was reported that James Dean had left his medal behind on the bedside table before taking that last fateful drive in his Porsche 550 Spyder.
